Bern is a veteran U.S. Navy pilot who flew antisubmarine aircraft during the late Cold War. He has since developed aviation-related software applications and enjoyed a long and successful career at a major U.S. airline. His writing draws inspiration from classic sci-fi, but his premise centers on the inevitable evolution of connected society and human relationships with an explosively evolving quantum superintelligence. His settings feel natural, and his storyline places the reader alongside the main characters. His passions include aviation, art, politics, philosophy, music, computer programming, and, of course, space travel.
